Our school captains are made up of 4 Year 6 students. The process that students go through is quite rigorous and begins in Term 4 the of the previous year. Students who wish to apply for a school captain or vice captain role must apply and present themselves to the school with a speech they have prepared demonstrating why they would make a great captain or vice captain.
From here, all students vote for who they believe should be representing our school for the following year. Once all votes are in, the highest votes are then announced and the succession training for student leadership begins. The new leaders are trained by the current student leadership team in many areas of what will be their responsibility.
As role models, our student leaders act with care and courtesy and reliability: show empathy towards others and act as good friends would; use manners and are polite when dealing with other students and adults; treat others fairly, honesty, show self-discipline and control of feelings and actions. Students are given support on how to become a student leader and to build the following attributes: responsibility, reliability and trustworthiness; they are friendly and act like a good friend should; they work well with others; are capable, positive and enthusiastic.
