Pascoe Vale South Primary School’s vision is to develop global citizens who thrive both socially and academically in an engaging learning environment. Our purpose is to ensure that all students will belong, learn and thrive within our school, local and global communities, by fostering a safe and nurturing environment reflecting our values of Caring, Learning, Enjoyment and Respect.
We provide an engaging learning environment with a strong commitment to developing the literacy and numeracy skills of all students.
The programs of, and teaching in, the school will support and promote the principles and practices of Australian democracy including a commitment to:
• An elected government
• The rule of law
• Equal rights for all before the law
• Freedom of religion
• Freedom of speech and association
• The values of openness and tolerance
Statements, which affirm Pascoe Vale South Primary School’s principles, are found in the vision of the school and in documents such as the Strategic Plan, Annual Implementation Plan and staff and parent handbooks.
Pascoe Vale South Primary School is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. We are committed to providing a child safe environment where children and young people are safe and feel safe. Particular attention is paid to the cultural safety of aboriginal children and children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds as well as the safety of children with a disability. Pascoe Vale South Primary School has zero tolerance for child abuse and all allegations will be treated seriously and consistently within the legal, moral and human rights frameworks.
Enactment of school philosophy
The vision of the school will sit at the centre. The expectation is that all work and interactions align with this and are reflected in:
• interactions (internal and external) by members of the school community
• practice by students and teachers
• work by the School Council and the community
• teaching and learning programs
• school initiatives
• organisational structures and practices
Regular evaluation processes will be in place to measure performance in all areas of the school with respect to the implementation of the vision and values of the school.
In all work in the school, we ask the question “is this work or process in line with the school vision, values and beliefs and does it have a positive impact on student academic, social and emotional learning?” This question will be a fundamental part of the practice of all within the school.
